Trend Setters...

The earth revolves around the sun. It’s a true fact, and no conspiracy.
Even with such enlightenment, it’s nice to be reminded of why people once thought the opposite — that the universe revolves around the earth — This kind of information I love because it's the best reminder of  just how far we’ve come.
Without even realizing we're all guilty of following trends in some way, shape or form! Information these days are so misleading & so far from the truth it's scary to think how many of us think we're doing good when in fact it's all just a scam to gain higher profits.
New studies are done every day to find out the reasons WHY!
Believe nothing... Confirm Everything!!!
Has anyone ever told you to never let your knees go over your toes in a squat? Studies have now proven that the correct movement is for your knees to naturally go forward over your toes in ANY squatting exercise. It's a natural movement... Try sitting on a chair, picking something up off the floor, walking, going to the toilet etc try doing these movements without your knees going over you toes. It's how the body works to prevent injury & too much pressure on the lower back. (Watch children they are the best example setters of this movement)
Has anyone ever said eating Low GI foods are good for you? Well they're right however have they explained how to know whether a product is Low GI? Fancy labeling on products sold in our leading super market chains are the worst for misleading parents into buying these FAKE Low GI products. To be labeled with a "Low GI" sticker the manufacturer must show that the product can hold a consistent Low GI level for 15mins, whether it shoots straight up after the 15mins it still passes the test. So how do these companies achieve this? They combine the food with other Macro Nutrients (Good Fats & Protein) thus changing the GI rating significantly. These additives delay the level at which it is digested & absorbed, so after that 15mins it will then result in marked fluctuations in blood sugar levels. So check the products ingredients list which will be in order as to most to least so that you can make a smarter decision.
"What comes up must come down"
A simple one is the 97%, 98% or 99% fat free products, basically what has happened here is the fat has been replaced by more Sugar!! Don't do it...
Another one is "Oil" Olive Oil is a great "good fat" to have in your daily diet however once this product reaches over 90'Degrees it then is converted into a Trans fat, so therefore Olive oil isn't good if used in a heated cooking process. Coconut Oil is a saturated fat & not beneficial for the body, the best Oil i love to use in all my cooking is Macadamia Nut oil which is your Omega-6 & then take Fish oil (Omega -3) capsules. Having enough good essential fatty acids in your body will aid in protecting every cell in your body, ensuring fat regulation & energy distribution (which aids in weigh loss) & reducing the intensity of PMS symptoms.
These are just some little tips to help make better decisions, it's good to confirm everything before you believe it, just because its tradition to train one way or everyone has always said this is better for me doesn't actually mean its still the case today. The world is changing dramatically & we need to keep up with it!!
As i learn more & more information I will continue to keep you updated, I'm currently studying Personal Training & Nurtrition at the moment & am currently a Muay Thai Trainer at Healthworks Victoria Point, Bloodshed Fight Gym.

It's all or nothing.

I've learnt through my own experiences & through others that sometimes you just have to go for it. Risk it all for your chance to be the best YOU!

My life was very predictable.....I was afraid to show signs of weakness, to put myself in a situation where I could possibly fail, or to do something that would almost guarantee negative feedback.
That was me then & this is me now...

*I went ahead an made the decision to train for Figure Novice held in March next year, which meant building a bigger frame, I know this look doesn’t appeal to everyone however I'm still going to go for it.
*I finally filmed my first ever Fitness Video which will be on YouTube tonight, it's something that I hope will encourage others to get into Muay Thai or just want some motivation to get active. However like anything it's not going to appeal to everyone but I am confident that it will benefit the ones who matter.
*I just quit my full time job to take on studies... I'll be studying Personal Training/Nutrition & a small Boxing Workshop, plus completing a Muay Thai course with Bloodshed. It'll be a short struggle to make my passion my career which means I will be able to personally assist people in transforming themselves by Feb next year.
*My partner Sam is 10 days out from his 2nd fight, he inspires me with his easy breezy personality in times where most would be freaking out. His opponent we watched a month or two back at a Muay Thai Fight Event, the funny part is Sam was so impressed with this guys performance that he personally went up to congratulate him on his win, little did we know at the time that Sam would soon be fighting him.
No Pressure....lol
*I set up a Facebook Page "Chontel Hau -Fitness Competitor" to reach people interested in Dieting & Training, to give free advice & tips, to keep people updated on my journey prepping for competitions & to help motivate others.

In saying all this I wanted to encourage others to hold no fear & to waste very little energy worrying about what the world might think.

Stay up to date with any new blogs by clicking LIKE on my Facebook Page "Chontel Hau -Fitness Competitor" & check out my new Muay Thai Video which will be posted on my page tonight.

Put on your running shoes…

I’m 2 weeks into my 20 week challenge to compete at FitX in March next year, I’m loving the different foods, new training program, new trainer (Nicky Jakonic) & my new challenge FIGURE!!

Just a short story……..

Two people were hiking through the jungle when they heard the sound of a tiger nearby. Both were terrified but one stopped and started to put on a pair of running shoes. “What do you think you are doing?” said the other. “You know you can’t outrun a tiger no matter what you are wearing on your feet.”
“I don’t have to outrun the tiger,” was the response. “I only have to beat you!”
That’s the way the world is going. The gap between the “haves” and the “haves nots” will widen as jobs become harder to get and the opportunities or work available splits further into skilled and unskilled.
You can put on your running shoes safe in the knowledge that over 80% of the population will worry about what is happening yet will do nothing to improve their situation.

Everyone has a goal some big & some small, whether it be to have a better relationship with a relative, take on studies to get your dream job, to buy a house, to get fit & healthy, to save, to travel, what ever the case may be everyone has a goal its human nature.
I was constantly looking up inspirational people, quotes and books trying to find motivation where ever I could to keep my interest for Fitness & Wellbeing alive. Don’t get me wrong I still do this now but what’s changed is that I’ve actually started to chase those goals I had & action everything I have ever wanted to accomplish.

Don’t do something just because everyone thinks it’s best for you, don’t sit their contemplating what you know you should be doing, make your pathway & show what’s unique about you!

An example for myself was competing in fitness modelling; it feels great not having to say “What if?” anymore. It’s pushed me to now take on more challenges which I am currently working on at the moment, an in doing all this I found that I was now making an impact on others, giving them the fuel to accomplish their goals.
To think that I could make a difference or give a sense of hope to benefit their journey to challenge their goals is what I would call a dream come true & I can promise you nothings better then the feeling you get once you’ve reached them.

So put your running shoes on & become everything you’ve always loved.

Bringing the impossible dream to reality...

  • Didn’t a high school teacher inform Einstein that he had a learning disability? If Einstein had taken this to heart, what on earth would he have achieved?
  • Didn’t Sylvester Stallone get rejected by dozens of managers who told him that he couldn’t act? Did he let this stop him from achieving his dreams?
  • Didn’t Kernel Sanders receive over 1,000 No’s before receiving a single Yes for his homemade chicken recipe? His persistence resulted in KFC.
  • Didn’t Thomas Edison receive criticism for his ongoing efforts in the development of the light-bulb? If he had listened to them, would you be enjoying light today?
We should never doubt another persons dreams, on top of this we should never doubt or deny our own dreams.

I set some goals back in July, goals which I had always wanted yet never ever believed i could achieve. I didn't hate the skin i was in, I wasn't miserable in my lifestyle of partying, traveling and eating what-ever an when-ever I liked. I just wanted a simple lifestyle change... Something new, challenging, exciting, just something that I could work towards that didn't end with a hang over. lol

I never thought I'd actually physically, emotionally, mentally be able to get to where i am today.
I was very blessed to have had the right support system available to keep me from going off the pathway, because yes I struggled & at some points even wanted to quit.
My main Supporter was my partner Sam I thank him for everything from helping prep my meals when needed, for financially supporting me, for being so patient with my mood swings & short temper, for going  to every one of my comps & for believing in me.
To Dwayne Glasgow my Muay Thai (and now new weights) trainer for never giving up on me, for seeing my potential that i couldn't see, for helping me where ever he could have an for putting up with my constant winging in EVERY Session.
To my P.I.C Breanna Budge for standing right beside me the entire way, keeping me in line, helping me, supporting me & for inspiring me like you wouldn't believe.
To my mum & grandparents for supporting me in something they didn't agree on & then for stepping outside their world to understand mine. You made me a winner the day you said i no longer looked skinny, but that i looked healthy!
This experience taught me a lot about myself, brought me closer to so many wonderful people, not only did i have my old friends there encouraging me, but i was lucky to had met some new faces.

Over the past 3 weeks i have Competed in 3 different Sports Model Competitions, I've had a panel of judges score all my hard work & not place me in any of those three comps. However my goal was to enter these competitions in the best shape i could possibly get into, which is exactly what i have achieved.
I'm so happy to have reached this point & now am thinking outside the box of Health & Well-being for my future.

In writing this i wanted to give others a sense of hope to achieve their goals & to be able to show a realistic form of understanding on a lifestyle change similar to mine.

Trials...

No one escapes trials in this life.
We can view our trials as a health program for the soul. Taken well, it can eliminate those fats in our soul, like laziness, irresponsibility & indifference. It can also help us build our character. Trials can strengthen the soul.
It can give you a deeper understanding of life, of others and yourself.

I made it to my first Sport Modeling Competition over the weekend, INBA. I didn’t place however I did my best & walked away feeling so happy with myself, I learnt that it’s not just the 1st 2nd or 3rd place you need from these competitions but that it’s that trial you accomplish. I wouldn’t change a thing with my performance & body; I worked so hard & did everything to my best of my ability.

This trial strengthened my soul & taught me the real meaning of winning.
I will continue to compete to take on more trials because any trial is an opportunity for personal growth and greatness.

I thank the ones who took the time to help, support and encourage me it makes the biggest difference when you are surrounded by the right people.

Challenges are what make life interesting; overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.

Now to get ready for NABBA this Saturday!

Your joy inspires

All of us are looking for some kind of fulfilment to bring us peace. We need it to justify our existence and we invest ourselves into whatever we believe that would fulfil us.
When we look at it, we pursue success to be happy. Success is just the means to find joy.  Some say that they pursue success to be fulfilled, but even fulfilment is accompanied by joy. That is how you can say to yourself you are fulfilled, when you have a sense of joy in you.

My partner/ best friend/ high school sweetheart (haha.. yes I went there) Sam is living just that, he inspires others by just chasing his sense of joy.
3 months after he stepped foot into a different world that he now lives and breaths for Sam was sold, he found his new fulfilment Muay Thai. (Victoria Point Bloodshed Fight Club)
5 months later he was standing in a ring, 30kgs lighter, less 8% body fat, with people screaming his name, heart racing, staring into another ones eyes ready to fight.
He gained much more then just a new body, confidence & that feeling of fulfilment. Its the people who helped him get there, they're like family & I think with anyone’s success the main accomplishment of joy is the new people you meet & the bond like no-other that you gain.

There are no gains without pains
